5 tips for nourishing the skin during the summer days

Summer is a season of sun, sea and carefree, but for our skin this season can be a real challenge. Increased temperatures, increased UV radiation and frequent contact with water and sand can damage our skin more than usual. Therefore, it is important to adapt our care to the summer season to keep our skin healthy, hydrated and radiant. We have prepared 5 valuable tips that will help you take care of your skin during the hot summer days.

1. Exfoliate

Exfoliation is an important step in skin care that is often overlooked, especially in the summer. But it is during this season that it can be especially useful if done correctly. During the warmer months, our skin produces more sebum, which in combination with sweat, various cosmetic products and pollution can lead to clogged pores. In addition, sun exposure speeds up the cell renewal process, which means more dead cells accumulate on the skin's surface. Therefore, it is good to exfoliate 1 to 3 times a week.

However, it is important not to forget that exfoliation in summer has its own peculiarities. First of all - it should not be too aggressive. Choose gentle products and be careful not to overdo it. The second important rule is that you must strictly apply sun protection. This is especially important if you use products with ingredients such as AHA acids or retinol that increase photosensitivity.

2. Hydration from outside and inside

No matter how much we talk about hydration, it will never be enough. It is the key to healthy skin in which you feel comfortable - especially in summer. When temperatures rise, our skin loses more moisture and needs extra nourishment.

As you may have heard, hydration has two equally important elements. First, let's talk about “external hydration”. It's about choosing the right body product to provide the necessary nourishment. Opt for a hydrating formula with a lighter texture that doesn't clog pores. Look for ingredients like hyaluronic acid or aloe vera that lock moisture into the skin without overloading it.

The second important element is "internal hydration". I.e. drink enough water every day. We recommend aiming for at least 8 glasses of water per day. You can diversify the invigorating drink by enriching it with slices of fresh fruit to give it flavor or replace it with unsweetened herbal teas. Avoid excessive consumption of caffeine and alcohol, as they can dehydrate the body.

3. Sunscreen, sunscreen and more sunscreen!

Sun protection is perhaps the most important aspect of skin care throughout the year. However, it becomes even more important in the summer. UV rays not only cause burns, but also accelerate the aging process and increase the risk of skin cancer.

Choose a sunscreen product with broad-spectrum protection (against UVA and UVB rays) and an SPF factor of at least 30. For sensitive skin or with intense sun exposure, choose a higher SPF factor. Remember that if you want to be effectively protected, how you apply the product is also important.

Use an adequate amount and make sure you don't miss sensitive areas like the ears, back of the neck and tops of the feet. Apply sunscreen 15-30 minutes before going outside to allow it to absorb and reapply every 2 hours or more often if you swim or sweat a lot.

4. Antioxidant protection

Antioxidants are key allies in the fight against environmental damage to the skin. They neutralize free radicals – unstable molecules that damage cells and accelerate the aging process. In summer, exposure to the sun and pollution is more intense. Therefore, antioxidant protection becomes even more important. Include foods rich in vitamins such as A, C and E in your diet.

Combining antioxidants with sunscreen provides double protection. Simplify your routine and simply choose a sunscreen with antioxidant ingredients.

5. Cooling and soothing the skin

The summer heat can leave our skin red, irritated and too hot. That's why after-sun care is just as key as UV protection. For this purpose, it is good to add a suitable gel or lotion for after the beach to your cosmetic products. It will hydrate, cool and soothe. And your skin will thank you.

It is important to choose a variant with suitable soothing ingredients such as aloe vera, calendula and peppermint, which are known for their cooling and anti-inflammatory properties. Choose an after-sun product that contains them. To enhance the effect even more, you can store the after-sun package in the refrigerator. If you have never tried it - we definitely advise you to try this summer trick!

Summer skin care doesn't have to be complicated, but it's important to apply it regularly. Give yourself some time to experiment to find the products and treatments that work best for you. Don't hesitate to consult a dermatologist if you have any questions or concerns. And remember, the best skin care is the one you enjoy using every day!
